Maroon 5 - It Wont Be Soon Before Long

For a polished, gleaming finish, Maroon 5 brings you ‘It Wont Be Soon Before Long’. After 5 years, and a Grammy Award under their belt, the band has returned with a brand new one, a second break-up, heart-wrenching album filled with hidden insinuations. The sound and feel of this album is much different from their debut ‘Songs About Jane’ and the only thing left unchanged is the fact that lead singer Adam Levine will continue to have teenager girls going gaga at his heels.

A Billboard number 1 debut single, and sales of nearly half a million copies in its first week alone, ‘It Wont Be Soon Before Long’ is such a well-engineered album that you can hardly believe what you are hearing. It might sound a little impossible at times; yet when sung live, Levine’s soulful falsetto is just as good.

Lyrics-wise, the 12 songs of this album take many different directions. Lead single Makes Me Wonder for example, has lyrics that capture sexual, political and love environments, while other songs are also made up of cheeky lyrics like “6 foot tall, came without a warning, so I had to shoot him dead” on 2nd single Wake Up Call. Most of the songs on ‘It Wont Be Soon’ have potential to be chart-toppers. Devilishly memorable tracks such as Won’t Go Home Without You, the crowd-pleasing Little of Your Time and the perfect end track Back At Your Door will get you singing along in no time.

Most of the songs have a retro feel to them and will be suitable for many age groups. In conclusion, this album is one of the must-haves of 2007. Maroon 5 have pulled out all the stops and it is well worth the 5 year wait.

No sophomore slump here.

Rating: 4/5
PS: Yeap, another review written for Matrics. Hope it gets published like my last one. XD
