Now for the old time boybands. Both are multi-million dollar platinum holders and both are down to 4 members from their original 5.
Westlife returns with Back Home, an album which as usual contains (but is not filled with) cover songs. First single Home, is ironically a cover song. Home sounds much better than the Buble version and it shows how much more powerful a band can sound compared to a solo singer. This album is filled with the usual blend of Westlife songs, but not many stand out. An obvious winner would be the second single Us Against The World.
As a huge Westlife fan, I am quite disappointed and hope they will do better in the future. Thankfully, Shane's voice is super-great as always.
Rating : 7/10
Backstreet Boys' new album is named Unbreakable (which is also the name of a previous Westlife album). The first single Inconsolable sounds like their previous Incomplete which is great. There are a few great songs on this album, but overall after 14+3 tracks, I find that most of them sound the same, leaving me feeling a little disappointed. Songs like Trouble Is and Helpless When She Smiles are great but even they leave little shine on the album.
Sad to say, maybe the era of the boybands are coming to an end. Though they were great years ago, maybe now they need a break, or maybe more time to work on further releases. As a fan of both these bands, I hope they do better next time. Good try though.
